The editors acknowledge companies for going above and beyond when it comes to taking care of their employees and for creating engaging workplaces.
Mike Werch, Video Guidance’s president, believes in sharing the wealth of the company’s accomplishments. “We’ve had an extraordinary year and it is our commitment to reward all of our employees who helped to meet – and surpass – our goals.”
When the company hits its quarterly financial goals, all employees are recognized with a five percent cash bonus. In addition, Video Guidance also honors exceptional performance, unique entrepreneurial ideas and employee milestones.
“Whether we attend formal and informal gatherings at entertainment and sporting events, or volunteer together for charitable causes, we make it a point to have a seriously good time while building strong employee relationships,” says Werch. “It’s good fun and it’s good business.”
U-Wide Contract: Video Guidance has been awarded a U-Wide contract for the University of Minnesota’s visual communications products and services. The U-Wide contract will provide Tandberg hardware, service and maintenance support for Tandberg, Polycom and Lifesize equipment. The contract was issued by the U of M’s purchasing services department, which provides management oversight and facilitation of all university purchasing processes to insure integrity, economy, efficiency and accountability.
In addition to the U of M, Video Guidance’s visual communications contract also includes the Learning Network of Minnesota – the education component of the Integrated Statewide Network, which is a collaborative wide area network for education, local government, and state agencies. U-Wide contracts with vendors for goods and services are available to all university departments as well as with other state agencies – including K-12 schools, and state, local cities and counties – through the Joint Powers Agreement, which jointly exercises the U of M’s contract with other governmental units. A statewide video infrastructure shares video systems and connects video conference rooms.
"We are thrilled to be working with the U of M and the State to make video-and audio-based technologies available to everyone, everywhere. Moreover, we believe that pervasive video communications will directly impact productivity and performance," said Michael Werch, president of Video Guidance. "The exciting and inventive visual applications that can expand distance learning, maximize telehealth and engage experts and authorities are endless."

North Dakota provides video conferencing services to state and local government, K-12 schools, universities and colleges, and public libraries, and expects to continue expanding to new locations throughout the state. The State currently manages a statewide video infrastructure connecting approximately 550 video conference rooms.
The contract was issued by the State of North Dakota acting through its Information Technology Department (ITD) and Office of Management and Budget.
The State’s communications infrastructure, called STAGEnet, has evolved into a hybrid network to meet increased demand. The network includes the use of Ethernet, optical fiber, Internet Service Provider (ISP) broadband services and wireless/satellite connectivity. STAGEnet includes the scale and flexibility to support the convergence of voice, video and data technologies as key components in optimizing statewide services. STAGEnet provides network access and connectivity for state government; state, local, county and city offices; and K-12 schools, universities, colleges and public libraries.
In addition to Polycom, Lifesize and Sony visual communications systems, the State of North Dakota also uses Tandberg, a Cisco company.
